Atsushi Inaba, executive director at Platinum Games, has given a straight answer about Nintendo’s involvement with Bayonetta 2. According to Inaba, there wouldn’t be a sequel if the company hadn’t decided to collaborate with Platinum on the project.
Atsushi Inaba said: "Would Bayonetta 2 not exist without Nintendo? The answer is yes."
Inaba says that even though Bayonetta 2 will be hitting a brand new system – and the IP is coming to a Nintendo console for the first time. He doesn’t see the move as a change in platform.
"We are not viewing this as a change of platform. We were looking for a partner to create Bayonetta 2 and Nintendo was a strong, cooperative partner that was willing to create and grow Bayonetta 2 together [with us]. As a result the platform became the Wii U."
